Pro Bono Volunteerism Bridges Nonprofit AI Gap
Nonprofits are struggling to deploy AI effectively due to technical capacity issues, not just funding problems. A recent report found that only 7.4% of nonprofits have successfully deployed AI for their core mission work. The main barrier is operational capacity, which is hard to address with standard enterprise enablement models.
Pro bono volunteerism may be the solution to this problem. By mobilizing corporate talent and expertise, nonprofits can gain access to the technical skills they need without breaking the bank. This approach has already shown promising results through the Salesforce Accelerator program.
The Accelerator provides funding, technology, and expert support to help nonprofits deploy AI effectively. In its third year, the program has delivered $16+ million in grants and over 2,000 pro bono hours. The impact is significant: while only 7% of nonprofits have successfully deployed AI, 91% of Accelerator grantees believe their AI agent will help accelerate their mission.
