Qantas Near-Miss at Sydney Airport Under Investigation

A near-miss incident at Sydney Airport is under investigation by aviation authorities. The incident occurred on July 27 when a Qantas Boeing 737, arriving from Queenstown, was cleared to cross a runway in front of another Qantas flight, a Bombardier DHC-8 from Canberra, which was already on the runway's landing roll.

According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), air traffic control detected the conflict and advised both crews. The 737 stopped after the holding point, preventing a potential collision.

The incident is considered a serious safety issue by the ATSB, but fortunately, no one was injured. Investigators are gathering evidence, interviewing parties involved, and reviewing recorded data as part of their probe.
