Qantas Upgrades Boeing 787 Business Class Suites with Sliding Doors

Qantas is upgrading its Boeing 787 business class seats to include sliding privacy doors, 80-inch lie-flat beds, and larger footwells. The new suites will be installed on upcoming deliveries of the aircraft, starting in FY2028. This upgrade maintains the same seat count as the current configuration but provides a significant improvement over the existing seats.

The Thompson Aero Vantage XL platform, which is being used for these upgrades, features a wider footwell and a restyled personal storage space. While this platform may not be the most advanced in terms of business class seating, it offers a comfortable experience for passengers. It's worth noting that Qantas will have different seats on its Airbus A350-1000s, which feature the Safran Unity platform.

The new business class suites on the Boeing 787 are expected to be evolutionary rather than revolutionary, as they stick to the same seating platform currently used by the airline. This decision is likely made to maintain operational efficiency and make it easier for the airline to swap planes around if needed.
