Qantas Upgrades Business Class Suites with Sliding Doors and Lie-Flat Beds
Qantas is upgrading its business class suites on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and Airbus A321XLRs, starting from deliveries in 2028. The new suites will feature sliding privacy doors and lie-flat beds on both aircraft.
The Airbus A321XLR will have a herringbone layout with all seats facing the aisle, allowing for more efficient use of space. This configuration is a compromise on traditional window-facing seats but allows every customer to have a lie-flat bed and a sliding door. The new suites will also come equipped with 19-inch entertainment screens, wireless charging, and USB-C ports.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner's updated Business Class suite is an evolution of the existing Thompson Aero VantageXL seat, featuring bespoke finishes and a muted color palette inspired by Western Australia's Pilbara region. Qantas has decided to keep the same number of suites on its new 787-9s as on older models, with no plans to retrofit existing aircraft.
