Qatar Airways Ditches Qsuite for New Business Class Configuration on Boeing 787-9
The Qsuite business class product has been synonymous with Qatar Airways' premium experience. However, recent deliveries of Boeing 787-9 aircraft to the carrier have introduced a new configuration that replaces the iconic Qsuite with the Adient Aerospace Ascent seat.
According to Simple Flying, the decision not to install Qsuite on the 787-9 was due to its narrower cabin width compared to the Airbus A350. The Ascent seat, which Qatar Airways was the launch customer for in June 2021, has a herringbone configuration and features lie-flat beds, wireless charging, and customizable lighting.
The Ascent seat's lighter platform also contributes to significant fuel savings. In contrast, running Qsuite on the 787-9 would result in incredibly narrow aisles due to its bulkier design.
