Qatar Airways Hits 150 Widebodies with Starlink Onboard Connectivity
Qatar Airways has reached a major milestone in its Starlink program by equipping 150 of its widebody aircraft with high-speed onboard connectivity. The airline has become the first carrier globally to operate a Boeing 787-9 equipped with Starlink, marking another significant step in Qatar's investment in passenger experience.
Qatar Airways completed the rollout across its Boeing 787-8 sub-fleet in just seven months and now operates the world's largest Starlink-equipped fleets of Boeing 777, Airbus A350, and Boeing 787 aircraft. The airline has offered Starlink on long-haul and ultra-long-haul routes across six continents since its launch in October 2024.
With over 23 million passengers connecting to Starlink across more than 86,000 flights, Qatar Airways continues to expand complimentary high-speed connectivity across its international network. The airline's Boeing 787-9 with Starlink offers speeds of up to 500 Mbps, allowing passengers to stay connected for work, communication, and entertainment.
Qatar Airways' commitment to fast and seamless onboard connectivity is evident as it moves closer to making this a standard part of the passenger experience across its global network. The airline's latest achievement follows its previous completion of Starlink rollouts across its Boeing 777 fleet in nine months and Airbus A350 fleet in eight months.
Qatar Airways was voted the World's Leading Airline in 2025 by World Travel Awards and also won the award for World's Best Airline Website by the World Travel Tech Awards in 2025.
