Qatar Airways Posts Record Profit, Places Massive Order for 210 Boeings
Qatar Airways has posted its highest annual profit in history, reaching $1.94 billion for the 2025/26 financial year. This impressive figure comes despite a year of severe disruption to Middle East airspace, including the Iranian airspace closure that forced Gulf carriers into thousand-mile reroutings.
The airline's operational discipline and hub geography are credited with helping it weather this storm and set a record profit. The carrier carried 41.8 million passengers and 1.43 million tons of cargo through its single Hamad International hub, accounting for about 12% of the global air-freight market.
In a major move, Qatar Airways has also placed firm orders for 130 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 30 Boeing 777-9s, with options on 50 more. This deal is worth around $96 billion and represents the largest widebody order in Boeing's history. The airline already operates one of the largest 787 fleets in the world and will use these new aircraft to replace aging 777-300ERs and 777-200LRs starting from 2030.
