Qatar Airways Posts Record Profit, Places Massive Order with Boeing
Qatar Airways has reported a record-breaking net profit of $1.94 billion for its 2025/26 financial year, the highest in its history. The airline carried 41.8 million passengers and 1.43 million tons of cargo through its single hub at Hamad International, accounting for around 12% of the global air freight market.
The carrier's Group CEO, Hamad Al-Khater, attributed the success to operational discipline and a hub geography that benefits from chaos. Despite severe disruptions in Middle East airspace, including the Iranian airspace closure, Qatar Airways absorbed the challenges and still set a profit record.
In a significant move, the airline has placed firm orders for 130 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 30 Boeing 777-9s, with options on 50 more. The deal is worth around $96 billion and represents the largest widebody order in Boeing's history.
