Qatar Lands $4.5 Billion Tanker Deal with US Despite Israeli Embargo
The US State Department has approved a possible $4.5 billion sale of four Boeing KC-46A aerial refueling aircraft and related equipment to Qatar.
The deal, which includes spare parts, maintenance, and long-term training support, comes despite the Israeli defense establishment's strict embargo on defense exports to Qatar.
No firm delivery schedule has been set for the aircraft, which are unlikely to be delivered before 2030 due to existing production backlogs and heavy global demand.
The acquisition will allow Qatar's air force to conduct long-range strike missions far beyond its borders, marking a significant shift in its operational reach.
