Qualcomm Reaffirms Stock Rating Amid Amazon Partnership
Qualcomm's stock rating has been reiterated by KeyBanc to Sector Weight following the chipmaker's partnership with Amazon. The agreement, announced today, will see Qualcomm develop customized silicon for artificial intelligence data centers. Amazon, a tech giant with a market cap of $2.77 trillion and 15.8% revenue growth over the last twelve months, will receive up to 25 million shares through a warrant.
The deal covers AI inference and optical connectivity solutions, including 1.6T and future-generation offerings. KeyBanc views this partnership as positive for Qualcomm, improving visibility into the company's data center ramp and long-term growth. The firm also states that the agreement strengthens the outlook for Qualcomm's expansion beyond its core handset business.
However, KeyBanc maintains its Sector Weight rating, citing the transition away from handsets will take time. Amazon currently trades below its Fair Value, suggesting potential upside for the partnership. This trend is part of a broader movement among technology companies to diversify their borrowing to support investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
