Rainy Nights at MNSSHP: What Happens When Events Are Rained Out

Walt Disney World's Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Very Merry Christmas Party events often coincide with storm season in Central Florida, leading to rainy nights that can be total rainouts for guests. These events cost upwards of $200 per ticket, making the experience even more disappointing when the weather ruins it.

According to Disney Tourist Blog, which has attended several special events that were downright 'Disney Deluges' with downpours so strong that it felt like figurative buckets of water falling from the sky. Nights that have been total rainouts, with little to no event-exclusive entertainment happening due to the weather.

The blog notes that most of these incidents happened during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party or earlier Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party dates, both of which not-so-coincidentally coincide with storm season for Central Florida. The fine print accompanying special event ticket purchases includes disclaimers stating that tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.

However, Walt Disney World has added a 'Weather Updates and Policies' page to the My Disney Experience app, which links to real-time weather updates. While this might seem like a gesture towards providing guests with useful information, it's likely more of a legal CYA move for Disney to discourage guests from seeking recovery in case of rain-related cancellations.

Guests may be able to request guest recovery if the party is rained out, as some attractions are indoors and can remain open. However, the unequivocal party highlights - parades, fireworks, stage shows, and character meet & greets - often get cancelled due to rain.
