Raleigh Hops onto AI-Powered Digital Twins
The City of Raleigh is revolutionizing its traffic management system by harnessing the power of AI and digital twins. In collaboration with Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Esri, the city has developed a real-time digital twin that combines data from video feeds to optimize traffic patterns.
By creating this virtual environment, the City of Raleigh expects to save commuters an estimated $9.7 million in time and travel costs. This ambitious project was completed in just six weeks, with the goal of showcasing its progress at the Smart City Expo in Spain.
According to James Alberque, GIS (Geographic Information System) and Emerging Technology Manager at the City of Raleigh, 'The city organization is very supportive of leveraging technology to solve our population challenges in new ways.'
