Recurrent Energy's Carwarp Energy Park Begins Commercial Operations with Microsoft PPA
Recurrent Energy has started commercial operations at its 150 MW Carwarp Energy Park in Victoria, Australia. The solar project, which began construction in 2022, connects to the market through Victoria's 220 kV transmission network.
The facility is expected to generate 405 GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to meeting the needs of around 65,000 Australian households. It will also avoid approximately 227,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year, comparable to removing more than 49,000 internal combustion engine vehicles from the road.
The project has a long-term power purchase agreement with Microsoft, providing contracted demand for the renewable energy generated by Carwarp Energy Park. The agreement is an important financing tool for large-scale clean energy infrastructure, particularly as electricity demand grows from data centers and digital services.
