Reddit Dominates Google's Discussions and Forums Search Results

A new study by Ahrefs has shed light on the dominance of Reddit in Google's 'Discussions and forums' search engine results page (SERP) feature. The research, led by Glen Allsopp, Head of Marketing Strategy & Research at Ahrefs, found that Reddit appears in 83.9% of discussion-focused search results globally.

This means that when users are searching for specific answers or discussions online, they are more likely to find relevant content on Reddit. In fact, the study revealed that 27 domains had one URL contributing at least 10% of their overall visibility in the 'Discussions and forums' SERP feature.

While Reddit dominates the landscape, other sites such as Facebook and Quora also capture a significant share of these results. Together, the three platforms account for a combined 76.75% of all links appearing in discussion-focused search results.

The findings have important implications for marketers and businesses looking to engage with their target audience online. As Glen Allsopp notes, 'businesses should consider Reddit for user engagement and content strategies'.
