Relabelled Expired Food Products Found at Maharashtra Warehouse

Authorities in Maharashtra discovered a massive operation involving the relabelling of expired and near-expiry food products at a Navi Mumbai warehouse. The facility, operated by Sadhana Enterprises, was found to have altered expiry dates and labels on cartons of consumer goods from major brands including PepsiCo, Nestle, Unilever, and Coca-Cola.

The investigation revealed that the original manufacturing and expiry dates were removed using a chemical solvent before new information was printed over them. Officials also discovered fake nutrition labels pasted over the original packaging to make products suitable for export.

Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration chief Tukaram Mundhe described the operation as 'shocking' and called for greater accountability across the supply chain. The authorities seized goods worth nearly $80,000 from the facility, with most of the products being either expired or close to expiry.
