A 26-year-old man from Renfrewshire has been jailed for 10 months after assaulting two female police officers in Linwood. Daniel McAdam was arrested on December 13 last year and was found to be intoxicated, unsteady on his feet, with slurred speech and glazed-over eyes.

When the officers tried to engage with him, McAdam became aggressive and began shouting and swearing. He then struck PC Henry in the face with handcuffs, causing her to stumble back, and later bit PC McDonald's finger, causing a cut and swelling.

The court heard that McAdam had eight previous convictions for offending against police officers, and that he had no recollection of the incident due to his intoxication. Procurator fiscal depute Tracy Wight said that PC McDonald suffered a concussion and was bitten by McAdam, causing significant injuries.
