Rensselaer Man Passes Away at Age 88: Remembering Emerson 'Skip' C. Giddings

Emerson 'Skip' C. Giddings, an 88-year-old Mechanical Design Engineer, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, at the Eddy Heritage Rehabilitation Center in Troy, N.Y.

Giddings was born in Albany, N.Y., and spent his life pursuing interests such as fly fishing, camping, and hunting. He was a member of the Rensselaer Elks and worked for IBM before retiring from Simmons Machine Tool after 40 years.

Giddings is survived by his daughter Cheryl Higgins, son Bruce Giddings, and several grandchildren. His wife Donna F. Giddings predeceased him, as did his brother Robert G. Giddings and companion Audrey Padula.
