Retail Investors Fuel Five Hot Stocks on X and Reddit's r/WallStreetBets
This week's retail investors couldn't stop buzzing about five hot stocks on X and Reddit's r/WallStreetBets. Moderna Inc. (NASDAQ:MRNA) led the pack, surging more than 177% after announcing a positive Phase 3 result for its personalized mRNA cancer vaccine, intismeran, in high-risk resected melanoma. The therapy met its primary endpoint of improved recurrence-free survival and key secondary endpoint of distant metastasis-free survival.
However, the stock corrected sharply on Aug. 20, with analysts raising targets and the company planning regulatory discussions. As of publication, MRNA shares traded around $132 to $139 per share, having advanced by 395.80% over the year and 167.34% in the last six months.
Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ:WMT) also drew attention after reporting fiscal second-quarter 2027 results that beat estimates with revenue of $187.9 billion, up 5.9%. However, U.S. comparable sales rose only 2.6%, missing forecasts amid pharmacy headwinds and consumer caution over high fuel prices.
Strategy Inc. (NASDAQ:MSTR) disclosed selling about 3.46 million shares for roughly $334 million in net proceeds during the prior week, with no Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) purchases or sales. The company's BTC position turned back into an unrealized gain of about $1.4 billion following a sharp Bitcoin rally.
