Retail Theft Ring Busted in St. Johns County Operation

A two-day joint operation between the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement resulted in multiple arrests and the recovery of thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.

On August 3, detectives watched three individuals enter the Burlington and Ross stores on Durbin Pavilion Drive and walk out with stolen goods. Carlos Garvin, 20, Ivory Monroe, 25, and Laroy Cannon, 28, were arrested for Retail Theft Over $750 Working in Concert.

The group allegedly stole approximately $1,400 worth of merchandise between the two stores. Monroe had an active warrant for theft out of Jacksonville at the time of the thefts, while Garvin was on probation for a previous retail theft offense.

The operation continued on August 4 at the Home Depot on Durbin Pavilion Drive, where loss prevention staff alerted detectives to a man pushing a cart full of unpaid merchandise out of the store. Zane Sublett, 32, exited the store and walked toward a parked SUV when he spotted law enforcement vehicles.

Sublett ran but was quickly taken into custody after stealing over $1,500 in merchandise. Deputies then conducted a traffic stop on the SUV and arrested the passenger, Daron Johnson, 32, on active warrants.
