Retailers Pull Nazi-Like Costume From Shelves
Major retailers Amazon, Target, and Walmart have removed a Halloween costume from their websites due to its resemblance to Nazi uniforms. The 'German Army Soldier Adult Costume' sold by Orion Costumes included a jacket, trousers with attached boot covers, a belt, and a hat.
The removal comes after several online users noted that the outfit is similar to German military uniforms from World War II. Amazon confirmed that the costume was removed immediately after they discovered it, while Walmart stated that they take swift action against violations of their policies and standards.
This incident adds to Target's recent public-relations challenges, including backlash over diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and Pride merchandise.
