Retailers Remove Pro-Nazi Halloween Costume After Policy Violations
A Halloween costume that bore a resemblance to Nazi uniforms from WWII has been removed from online marketplaces at Walmart, Amazon, and Target. The 'German Army Soldier' costume was previously available on these platforms through UK-based Orion Costumes, but is no longer listed for sale.
Archived evidence shows the costume was available on each retailer's website before being taken down. A spokesperson for Walmart confirmed that the company had removed the listing due to policy violations.
'We expect all items sold by third-party sellers on our site to meet our policies and standards,' the spokesperson said, adding that swift action is taken when violations are detected.
This incident comes after Target apologized in late August for another costume that evoked racist stereotypes. The retailer stated it 'got this wrong' and removed the listing.
