Retro Refrigerator Recall Issued Due to Electrical Fault

More than 120,000 retro-style refrigerators sold at Home Depot and Amazon have been recalled due to an electrical fault that can cause them to short circuit and catch fire. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of around 121,680 Galanz Retro Refrigerators on July 30, 2026.

The affected appliances were sold nationwide at Home Depot stores and online through Amazon between January 2019 and September 2022 for between $330 and $520. They feature a separate top freezer compartment, adjustable glass shelves, and a drawer, measuring around 58 inches high, 24 inches deep, and 21 inches wide.

The recall involves refrigerators manufactured in China by Zhongshan Galanz and imported into the US by Galanz Americas and Home Depot. Consumers who own one of the recalled models are urged to unplug it immediately and contact Galanz to arrange a free in-home repair by a qualified technician.
