Ride or Die Overtakes Lioness as Amazon's Top Streaming Series
Amazon's Prime Video has seen its new series Ride or Die dethrone Taylor Sheridan's spy thriller Lioness on the platform's charts. The action comedy, starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham, held the top spot for multiple weeks after its premiere in July and still sits at No. 3 on Prime Video's TV chart after 44 days. Meanwhile, Lioness Season 3 is airing brand-new episodes every Sunday but has slipped to No. 5 despite its high critical acclaim.
Ride or Die holds a 96% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an 84% Popcornmeter, with fan reviews skewing heavily toward perfect 10/10 ratings. In contrast, Lioness Season 3 boasts an 85% critic score but has seen more divided audience reactions.
The disparity in performance between the two shows may be due to their differing availability on Amazon's platform: Ride or Die is included with a standard Prime subscription, while Lioness requires the Paramount+ add-on channel. As such, Ride or Die has been able to reach a wider audience and achieve its impressive viewership numbers.
