Rifles, Ammunition Seized at Home Depot Parking Lot, Suspects Turned Over to ICE
Three men were arrested in Jericho after police discovered them unloading rifles and ammunition from a large wooden crate in the Home Depot parking lot.
According to officials, officers on routine patrol noticed the men transferring multiple rifles into their vehicles. The incident occurred on Friday, and an investigation led to the arrest of all three suspects.
The men were charged with various crimes, including failure to safely store firearms, criminal possession of a controlled substance, loitering, and criminal possession of a weapon. Two of the suspects, Gilberto Rivera Lopez and Rudi W. Rivera Lopez, were later turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after investigators determined they had entered the country illegally.
Police found rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition, three machetes, knives, and suspected cocaine in the parking lot. A forged Social Security card was also discovered.
