Riyadh Air Doubles Down on Widebody Orders
Riyadh Air has placed a significant order for widebody aircraft at the Farnborough International Airshow. The airline, which began commercial flights just three weeks ago, has committed to 34 more aircraft across both Boeing and Airbus.
The headline number is 28 Dreamliners, with 20 of those being switched from the 787-9 to the stretched 787-10 model. This means Riyadh Air will have a larger fleet than initially planned, with the upgraded variant offering roughly fifty more seats per aircraft.
Riyadh Air has ambitious plans to serve over 100 destinations by 2030, part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 program. The airline's CEO, Tony Douglas, said this order marks another significant milestone in Riyadh Air's journey towards achieving its goals.
