Roanoke College Partners with Google for Free AI Training
Roanoke College has partnered with Grow with Google to offer free access to industry-recognized credentials in fields like project management, cybersecurity, and marketing. The college is participating in the Google AI for Education Accelerator program, which provides 24 different certificates through Coursera.
According to Ryan King, chief of staff and innovation officer at Roanoke College, the partnership allows students to earn credentials with an AI component embedded within them. These courses are hosted on Coursera and can be added to LinkedIn or a resume upon completion.
King emphasized that Roanoke College's approach differs from other colleges in Virginia, which often offer AI minors or majors. Instead, the college trains students to think critically and use AI as a tool, not a crutch.
