Rocky Columns Take Shape at Disney's Animal Kingdom
Crews are continuing to work on themed rocky columns in the new Tropical Americas land at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
The large column, located near the northern entrance of the land and close to the Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! attraction, has been further carved to look more realistic since our last update. Painting may have also begun on this column, which started as a concrete column erected in June.
The rock walls and columns are being themed to an ancient ruined wall that has partially collapsed, corresponding to elements found in the Tropical Americas model. Crews are also creating natural-looking rockwork around the Encanto and Indiana Jones rides, with the land's attractions named Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos.
Tropical Americas is scheduled to open in 2027. Crews are working diligently to bring this new land to life, with a focus on creating an immersive experience for park guests.
