RTX 5090 Disappears from Online Retail, Prices Soar to $9,500

Nvidia's RTX 5090 has become increasingly scarce in online retail over the past week, leading to skyrocketing prices among third-party sellers. The median price for an RTX 5090 was $4,299 in June, and by September, it had dropped to $5,199. However, in a short span of two weeks, available stock has completely disappeared from online marketplaces, with the cheapest option now commanding over $6,400 on Amazon.

The prices have ballooned even further, with some third-party sellers demanding as much as $9,500 for Nvidia's fastest GPU. Newegg and Amazon are currently flooded with listings from these sellers, with the MSI Ventus 3X OC selling for a staggering $8,699. Meanwhile, Micro Center remains one of the few retailers offering the RTX 5090 at an average price of around $4,299.

The extreme demand for the RTX 5090 can be attributed to its exceptional performance in AI applications. With the GB202 GPU and 32GB of GDDR7 memory, it is significantly faster than Nvidia's RTX Pro 5000 48GB, despite being priced lower. The RTX 5090 has also become an attractive option for building an AI server, with prices reaching as high as $5,000 per unit.
