Russian Hackers Target Hotel Wi-Fi Networks Globally

Microsoft has issued a warning about a growing threat to hotel Wi-Fi networks worldwide. The company's Threat Intelligence unit attributed the attacks to Russian state-sponsored hackers Storm-2945, a subgroup of the cyber group Midnight Blizzard.

The hackers have targeted hospitality venues with guest logins or captive portals, prompting users to download malicious files that infect their devices with malware. This malware allows the hijackers to collect sensitive information such as browser cookies, passwords, documents, and more.

Microsoft has identified widespread compromise of Wi-Fi networks at hospitality-related organizations and has shared information on the threat, how it is carried out, and best practices for users to avoid it.
