Ryanair CEO Disputes Passenger Sucked Out of Window After Engine Failure
Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary has sparked controversy after disputing claims that a passenger was partially sucked out of a Boeing 737 window following an engine failure on July 10.
The incident occurred during climb-out from Thessaloniki en route to Memmingen in Germany, where 61-year-old Ljubisa Karovic sustained neck and shoulder injuries, as well as friction burns.
Federal investigators believe that the window was struck by debris from a fractured engine fan blade, which is a known risk factor for engine failure.
The NTSB has warned O'Leary not to make public comments about the ongoing investigation, citing Annex 13 of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) rules that prohibit releasing information without permission from the investigating authority.
