Ryder Cup Qualifying Criteria Shifts Again with New Performance-Based System

The US Ryder Cup qualifying criteria has undergone its third change in three years. The new system will award points based on performance during the year leading up to the 2027 matches in Ireland, rather than PGA Tour earnings.

Qualifying will start at The American Express and end with the BMW Championship at Liberty National. The top six players in points will automatically qualify for the team, and Jim Furyk will make six captain's picks after the season-ending Tour Championship.

The new system awards 3,000 points to major winners, 2,850 points to Players Championship winners, and 1,500 points to regular PGA Tour event winners. Players cannot earn points from opposite-field events.
