S&P 500 Earnings Soar on AI Boom, Valuations Reaching Dot-Com Heights

The S&P 500 index is expected to experience its fastest earnings growth since Q2 2021, with a projected 50.4% increase in this quarter.

This growth is largely driven by the AI boom and soaring demand for chips, which has led to significant gains for companies like Micron, where profits have catapulted higher since the launch of ChatGPT.

The surge in earnings is not without its challenges, however. Some experts point out that valuations are unusually high, with the CAPE ratio nearly as high as it was when the dot-com bubble burst.

Despite these concerns, history suggests that the current environment may be similar to the beginning of the dot-com boom in 1994, where internet infrastructure demand began to ramp higher and companies like Cisco and Intel saw significant growth.
