S&P 500 Profit Margins Soar to Record High
The S&P 500's net profit margin has hit a record high of 16.9% in Q2, according to FactSet data that dates back to 2009.
This is an increase from 12.9% a year ago, with tech giants Alphabet and Amazon driving the growth, posting operating margins of 34% and 13.7%, respectively.
Excluding these two companies, the S&P 500's margin still stands at a record high of 15%, indicating broad market strength across various sectors such as technology, communication services, consumer discretionary, and energy.
