Salesforce Announces Fourth Round of Layoffs in San Francisco
Salesforce, the software-as-a-service giant and largest private employer in San Francisco, has announced plans to cut dozens of jobs from its headquarters South of Market. The company will lay off 74 people on October 5, according to a state filing with the Employment Development Department.
This is Salesforce's fourth round of Bay Area layoffs in just under a year, following cuts of 86 jobs at Salesforce Tower back in June. Tech industry layoffs have been on the rise this year, with job cuts exceeding those of all of 2025, even with five months remaining in 2026.
The trend is partly driven by tech companies' adoption of artificial intelligence as a means of reducing costs and headcounts. Major players like Block, Oracle, Chime, and Meta have all cut jobs this year, citing AI adoption as a factor.
