Salesforce Announces Fourth Round of San Francisco Layoffs

Salesforce, San Francisco's largest employer, is planning its fourth round of layoffs in under a year. The company will cut approximately 74 jobs at its headquarters, effective October 5th. According to a state filing, the permanent cuts will affect various departments, including technology and product positions (37), general administration roles (34), and sales and distribution positions (3). This latest layoff follows previous rounds in September 2025 (262 jobs), February (hundreds of positions), and June (86 jobs).

The layoffs come as Salesforce continues to promote artificial intelligence as a key growth strategy. Despite strong financial results, with revenue reaching $11.1 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, up 13% from the previous year, the company is implementing restructuring expenses totaling $80 million.
