Salesforce CEO Quashes SaaSpocalypse Fears with Strong Earnings Report
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff dismissed concerns about a potential 'SaaSpocalypse' scenario, where AI replaces CRM software. Instead, he emphasized that AI enhances the platform, citing strong earnings and better-than-expected guidance as evidence.
Shares rose over 12% after the report, which included revenue of $11.3 billion, matching estimates, and adjusted EPS of $5.90, more than double expectations. Benioff highlighted that top AI companies rely heavily on Salesforce and Slack, with platform spending up 435% year-over-year.
He also emphasized the partnership with Anthropic, showcasing AI integration that supports sales tasks without replacing the core CRM platform. This integration is demonstrated through Claudeforce, a new plugin that integrates Anthropic's Claude AI chatbot with Salesforce's sales tools.
