Salesforce Cuts 133 Jobs Amid AI-Fueled Revenue Slump
Salesforce has announced that it will be cutting 133 jobs across its offices in California and Washington. The affected employees will lose their positions on October 5, with most of the roles being in engineering and management. This is the fourth round of layoffs for Salesforce in the Bay Area within a year, following 86 job cuts at Salesforce Tower in June.
The company's CEO, Marc Benioff, has previously spoken about reducing its workforce, stating that 'I need less heads' on The Logan Bartlett Show podcast. This comment was made after Salesforce cut around 8,000 jobs in 2023, close to a tenth of its staff at the time.
The latest layoffs come as the company is still reeling from the impact of AI on its business. Salesforce shares have been down by about 27% this year due to concerns that AI will erode demand for subscription software, leading to what some have dubbed the 'SaaSpocalypse'.
