Salesforce Joins Seattle Layoffs with 59 Cuts in Fremont and Bellevue

Seattle's tech industry is experiencing another rough week as Salesforce becomes the latest company to announce layoffs. The San Francisco-based firm will cut 59 employees from its Fremont and downtown Bellevue offices, according to a state regulatory filing on Wednesday.

The termination date for these employees is listed as October 5, two months after the notification date on Wednesday. Traditionally, tech companies pay severance through this two-month period and layoffs are effective immediately.

Salesforce acquired data visualization firm Tableau in 2019 for $15.7 billion, significantly growing its presence in Seattle. However, leadership changes in 2023 saw the Seattle-based CEO of Tableau replaced by a longtime Salesforce executive from San Francisco, bringing heavier Salesforce branding to the subsidiary.

The wave of layoffs comes less than a year after Salesforce let go of 93 employees in its Seattle and Bellevue offices. This adds to the brutal past couple of years of workforce cuts from homegrown companies like Amazon and Microsoft, which have collectively laid off 8,850 Seattle-area tech employees since May 2025.
