Salesforce Rolls Out Direct Access to CRM in Popular Collaboration Platforms
Salesforce is changing its approach to customer relationship management (CRM) by making it accessible directly within popular collaboration platforms like Slack and Microsoft Teams.
The company's Chair, CEO, and Co-Founder Marc Benioff announced this shift in the latest earnings call, stating that Salesforce wants to 'come to them' - referring to employees who are already working in these platforms.
This move is part of Salesforce's Headless 360 initiative, which aims to make its data, workflows, and business functions available through APIs, Model Context Protocol tools, and command-line tools. This means that users can access Salesforce information without always opening the CRM interface.
The company has seen success with Slackbot, its assistant for Slack, which reached one million active users within five months of launch and saw a 150% quarter-on-quarter increase in active users. Upgrades to premium Slack editions have also tripled since Slackbot's launch.
