Salesforce Shares Soar ~22% in Blowout Week Amid Software Sector Rotation
Salesforce had an extraordinary week, with its shares surging ~22% to close at $256.48. This was the sharpest move of any large US stock this week and a rare double-digit swing for a company of Salesforce's size.
While the broader market had a relatively quiet week, with the S&P 500 edging up 0.60%, the Nasdaq 100 rising 0.98%, and the Dow adding 0.65%, Salesforce was an outlier. The stock-specific story behind its success is not entirely clear, but it's possible that investors are rotating back into software names after a period of underperformance.
Other enterprise software companies also had strong weeks, including Crowdstrike Holdings, Synopsys Inc, Veeva Systems, and ServiceNow, which all posted double-digit gains. However, not all was rosy in the tech sector, with Rocket Lab Corp dropping 10.11% after a run of strong months for space stocks.
Bitcoin rose 2.07% to $78,132, while ether added 1.85% to $2,455.89. Solana (SOL) was the standout in the crypto world, surging 12.36% to $104.85.
