Salesforce Shifts from Agentforce to Outcome-Based AI Packages
Salesforce has introduced new editions of its Agentforce Sales and Agentforce Service products, sparking speculation about a retreat from the Agentforce brand. However, according to an article on Salesforce's DevOps blog, this is not the case.
The new Core, Advanced, and Max editions offer higher per-user prices and broader bundles than their predecessors. The key difference lies in how Salesforce intends to sell and deliver AI: less as a separate technology investment and more as part of the business application and platform required to deliver an outcome.
This shift matters because sales leaders don't have AI budgets; they have budgets to deliver sales outcomes. By packaging AI as part of its products, Salesforce is addressing the challenges that come with enterprise AI adoption, such as data readiness, security and governance, and uncertainty about cost versus value at scale.
The new editions include Data 360, which plays a crucial role in providing the context layer an enterprise agent requires. The price comparison between the old and new editions is worth doing, but customers need to map the bundle before debating its value. This change reflects Salesforce's understanding that AI interest and budgets are not the same thing.
