Salesforce Study Finds Rise of Skilled AI Agents Amid Value Concerns
A new study from Salesforce suggests that AI agents are becoming more prevalent and skilled in business settings. The Agentic Enterprise Index analyzed data from Agentforce, a platform for deploying AI agents, and found that organizations increased activated agents by nearly three times between February 2025 and April 2026.
The study also reported that the average creation time for agents was reduced by 53% during this period. Agents are becoming more versatile, with their skill sets expanding by up to 350% to enable them to handle increasingly complex tasks during peak demand.
However, the study's findings come at a time when there is increasing skepticism about AI's value in business. A recent MIT study found that alarmingly high numbers of AI investments had not delivered or were not perceived to have delivered the expected value.
Salesforce's President Enterprise and AI Technology, Joe Inzerillo, acknowledged this concern but argued that it's not the only factor to consider. He pointed out that it's getting easier to build and deploy agents, with the average person able to get an agent ready for production in less than two days.
