Salesforce Unveils Koa: AI Model Revolutionizes CRM Data Reasoning
Salesforce has introduced Koa, an AI model specialized in customer relationship management (CRM) data reasoning. This innovation is the result of a collaboration between Salesforce and Nvidia, which debuted at the annual Dreamforce conference on September 15.
Koa is based on Nvidia's Nemotron model and supports AI agents within the Agentforce platform. It enables these agents to reason through complex multi-step tasks and carry out specialized work based on CRM data.
Salesforce's chief platform engineering officer Rohan Kumar explained that Koa was developed using a large synthetic dataset drawn from 30 years of in-house CRM buildout experience, rather than relying on vast customer information accumulated in CRM systems. He stated, 'The knowledge built up over 27 years of building CRM is enormous.'
Koa uses fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, and policy optimization techniques to accurately perform multi-step tool calls. Benchmark tests have shown that Koa matches or outperforms major general-purpose models on CRM tasks while producing about one-third the errors.
