Samsung Ditches OneDrive for Google Cloud Storage
Samsung is ending its partnership with Microsoft OneDrive to store user images and videos in the cloud, effective September 30. According to a new version of Samsung's Gallery Cloud Sync service on the Galaxy Store, photos and videos will now be backed up to Google Cloud instead.
This change was spotted by X user Sandeep Adap and appears to have started already, with some users seeing options to sync images to Google within Samsung Gallery. The new service description specifies that it backs up photos and videos in Google Cloud, suggesting a shift away from Microsoft's cloud storage infrastructure.
Users will still be able to access their stored images through both Samsung Gallery and Google Photos, according to support documentation from Google. However, those who preferred using Samsung Gallery as a way to avoid storing images in Google Photos may need to make alternative arrangements.
