Samsung Gallery to Stop Syncing with OneDrive on September 30
Samsung Galaxy users who have been relying on their device's integration with Microsoft OneDrive for photo backup will need to make changes by September 30, 2026. The feature, which has allowed users to automatically sync photos from the Samsung Gallery app directly into their OneDrive account since 2019, is coming to an end.
According to both Microsoft and Samsung's support pages, the integration will no longer be available after September 30. This means that any photos or videos stored only in OneDrive will stop appearing inside the Galaxy app. While existing users can continue to back up new photos until the deadline, they won't be able to start syncing their photos with OneDrive for the first time.
The good news is that files already backed up through the integration are safe and will remain accessible in OneDrive through the OneDrive app or on any other device signed into the same Microsoft account. To continue backing up photos, users need to switch to OneDrive's Camera Backup feature instead of relying on the Gallery-based sync.
To do this, Galaxy owners should open the OneDrive app, sign in with their Microsoft account, and enable Camera Backup. They may also want to use the Download originals option inside the Gallery app or download directly through the OneDrive app to pull cloud-only photos onto their device before the sync breaks.
