Samsung Pokes Fun at Apple's Late Entry into Foldable Market
Samsung has been waiting for Apple to enter the foldable smartphone market, and now that it has, Samsung is welcoming the iPhone Duo with a healthy dose of sarcasm.
The company published a series of tongue-in-cheek posts on its social media channels, including one that read: 'Let us know when you're done reheating our leftovers.'
This response isn't entirely surprising, given Samsung's long history in the foldable market. The company launched its first Galaxy Fold in 2019 and has since released eight generations of foldable smartphones.
The iPhone Duo, on the other hand, is Apple's first foray into the foldable category. It features a 7.6-inch display that opens to reveal a larger screen, but it's also more expensive than Samsung's current Fold, which starts at Dh7,199 and has up to 1TB of storage.
The two devices have some notable differences, including Apple's support for the Apple Pencil, which isn't available on the Galaxy Z Fold8. However, analysts estimate that Apple could quickly capture around a quarter of the foldable market, putting it within striking distance of Samsung's roughly 38 per cent share.
