Saudi Arabia Seeks Potential $5 Billion Arms Deal from US
Saudi Arabia has requested a potential $5 billion arms deal from the US, which would see Boeing serve as the principal contractor. The proposed sale includes over 10,000 bombs and guidance kits for Saudi aircraft.
The package includes 10,004 JDAM-ER guidance kits, matching general-purpose bombs, and related support equipment. This would allow Saudi Arabia to produce GBU-38(V)2/B JDAM-ER weapons with a range of up to 64 kilometres from the release point.
The sale is intended to improve Saudi Arabia's airborne defence capabilities against regional threats. It would also enhance interoperability with US forces and other Gulf partners.
