AMD, Cisco, and HUMAIN have jointly announced the launch of Saudi Arabia's first AI computing cluster powered by AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs. This milestone marks a significant step in the kingdom's ambitious plan to establish itself as a major player in global AI compute infrastructure, aiming for 1 gigawatt of capacity by 2030.

The production system features AMD Instinct MI355X GPU accelerators paired with EPYC server CPUs and connected through Cisco's Silicon One-based AI networking fabric. This deployment is notable not only because it represents a major win for AMD in the data center market but also because it highlights the growing competition between AMD and Nvidia in the Gulf region.

HUMAIN, a Saudi state-backed AI firm, is operating the system as a commercial GPU-as-a-service platform for AI training and inference workloads. The company's CEO, Tareq Amin, framed the launch within the broader context of increasing demand for sovereign, high-performance AI infrastructure.
