Scalpers Cash In On Xbox Anniversary Consoles
Microsoft's Xbox Series X25 anniversary console has sparked controversy in the gaming community as scalpers are selling the limited-edition device for thousands of dollars on eBay. The pre-order pages went live on August 27, 2026, and within 24 hours, multiple listings popped up on the online marketplace.
The consoles, which come with a translucent green design and a unique engraving, were originally priced at $899.99. However, some scalpers managed to sell the full bundle, including the console, controller, and a copy of Halo: Campaign Evolved, for as much as $2,800.
The individual controllers are also being sold for inflated prices, with one listing reaching as high as $185, more than double its retail cost. The eBay listings have been met with criticism from gamers who feel that the scalpers are taking advantage of the limited-edition release.
Microsoft had announced the Xbox 25th anniversary collection earlier this week, saying it was a way to celebrate the community that has made Xbox what it is today. However, the company's efforts to create a special edition console have been hijacked by scalpers who are looking to make a quick profit.
