Secret Deodorant Boosts Attendance at Women's Soccer Games
Procter & Gamble's Secret deodorant brand is taking its support for women's sports to the next level by purchasing 9,000 tickets to National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) games this season. This move aims to boost attendance and encourage support for women's sports.
The ticket-buying effort will see Secret purchase 1,000 tickets for each of the nine stadiums hosting NWSL teams. The first batch of tickets is being offered for a game in North Carolina tomorrow, while the last one will be available for a Portland Thorns FC match in Oregon.
In each city, the P&G-bought tickets will be distributed to women's organizations and sports teams to encourage attendance at NWSL games. This initiative follows Secret's previous donation of $529,000 to members of the U.S. Women's National Soccer team in July, highlighting the pay gap between men's and women's soccer players.
Secret's associate brand director, Sara Saunders, stated that the effort is a way for the brand to show its support for female athletes and ensure they have a platform to play and receive attention. The NWSL has seen an increase in attendance this season, with an average of 7,196 fans per game, up 19% from last year.
